Seniors Miss Out on M & D Play Off Final Win

Mr Ted Kay

We are pleased and proud to announce that the Brookdale Men’s Seniors team were unlucky to just miss out on winning the prestigous Manchester and District Seniors Final which was hosted by Brookdale on 22nd September.

Played on our own Ashbridge course, Brookdale's total of 116 looked plenty enough to secure them the trophy, but sadly their impressive total was just beaten, when the unfancied outsiders from Glossop came in and stole the show with a marvelous total of 119.

Pre final favourites Shrigley Hall were seen off for 3rd place with their 100 points being just surpassed by Reddish Vale's 102.

Start performers for Brookdale were season long points leader Graham Brown with stalwart support from Brian Storey brought home 40 points off a ¾ handicap. They were ably backed up by Jim Gartside and veteran 2010 major winner Geoff Clarke with 37 points. John Biesty and Neil Milns then weighed in a creditable 39 to boost the Brookdale haul, whilst Jim Davies and Brian Foster contributed a very valuable 36, to complete the line up.

The team was Captained by inspiration leader Ted Kay, who injected his own passion and enthusiasm to boost his team.

Ted wishes to record his thanks to his team and the opposition for a tremendous day of competitive but friendly golf.

Congratulations to Ted and his team for representing our club so magnificently in the very first foray in to competitive senior golf.

Here's to next year and hoping you can go three points and one place better to bring the cup home.
